What Does CBD Feel Like?
One of many powerful compounds found in the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant, cannabidiol (CBD) has been known to support the body and mind in various ways. Among the many benefits that our users experience, some of the main ones are a sense of calm for focus, relief from everyday stresses, help in recovery from exercise-induced inflammation, and more. *
But what does CBD feel like when you take it? Does CBD really work? How will you know when or how you’re actually realizing the effects of CBD?
We’ll get into some examples of what to look for below, but for now, the most accurate answer to those questions is, “It depends.” Specifically, it depends on what your body needs and It also depends on what consumers are hoping it “works” for.
How Does CBD Work Within the Body
Everyone’s body is different, so when it comes to CBD, everybody is likely to experience a slightly different response. As you’ll come to learn, CBD works with your body’s Endocannabinoid System, which helps maintain homeostasis – or stability and overall wellness in your systems. So any effects that you feel will be personalized based on what you have going on internally. Results from CBD vary based on how much and how often you take it.
In the meantime, here are some things you should be aware of with CBD:
Plant compounds work better together. CBD is just one of over 100 cannabinoids that can be extracted from hemp. What scientists have found is that these plant compounds tend to have a better effect on the body when they work together rather than alone.
This is known as the Entourage Effect, and it’s a large part of why we choose to make our products “full spectrum.” Since the research shows that using the entire plant maximizes benefits delivered throughout the body, we make sure to give you as much of Mother Nature’s goodness as we can.
Does CBD Oil Get You High?
CBD is non-intoxicating. THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana, is both a psychoactive compound and an intoxicating cannabinoid that leaves its users feeling “high.” CBD, on the other hand, is a different cannabinoid found in Cannabis sativa and while it is technically psychoactive, it is non-intoxicating, meaning CBD products, like CBD oil, capsules and gummies, will not get you “high.”
As CBD is extracted from the hemp plant, a classification of the Cannabis sativa plant, and it can legally contain no more than 0.3% THC which is far less than the amount you would need to consume to get “high.”
How Does CBD Oil Make You Feel?
Now that you have a better understanding of what CBD is and how it works with the body (at least at a high level), it’s time to dig a little deeper into what our clients have been saying.
A long-time user, Jordan, has said, “I have been consistently using this product for 6 months now and have noticed the significant impact it has on my overall well-being.” Other users have described CBD’s effects as promoting “an overall relaxed feeling”—one that “cascades into all other daily activities.”
While we recommend following the directions for use, because everyone is different, you might find some variations that work best for you. Alex, a realtor said, “I take 25mg to 50mg almost every night, helps with my hip pain and a better night sleep. My clients tell me that I always appear very calm.” By comparison, Xxx has said, “I only use 10-15mg per serving after a stressful meeting and I feel the effects right away, more calm”
How long does it take to feel the effects of CBD?
In terms of how long it takes, Lisa said, “I’m not sure if my experience is unique but it seems to kick in slightly within a half hour. Then, about 2 hours in, my thought process begins to change (for the better).”
For each one of these clients, CBD has had a positive impact on their daily/night routines. For others, however, CBD remains somewhat of a mystery. One client, Nick said, “I have used CBD oil and feel no discernible difference. I don’t get it.” This is not terribly uncommon unfortunately and may be due in part to the regularity of taking it. The best way to feel the best effects, CBD must be taken on a regular basis for better results.
Good things take time. Time and patience. This is especially true when it comes to our health & wellness. We know a little something about that.
Every single day teaches us an important lesson: change takes time. If you are new to CBD (sometimes called CBD oils, hemp extract, CBD tinctures, capsules, gummies, or CBD lotions and topicals), you might not know where to start. We at Hemp CBD Wellness take the time to listen, offer guidance on how to expand relationships with CBD and to help you discover what work best for you. It’s a labor of love and not one to be rushed.
Closing Words
The bottom line is this: CBD affects everyone a little differently. You have to be patient and know that dietary supplements like CBD products are crafted to work with your body naturally. Results come by way of steady improvement, making your CBD wellness more sustainable each step of the way.
So, to sum it all up, what does CBD feel like? The short answer really is, “It depends.” It depends on what you have going on internally as well as the concentration of your CBD.
For some, the effects can be felt immediately after 1 dose. For others, it might take up to 2 weeks.
Everyone’s ‘right dose’ is different. We have clients who feel pain relief at 5mg and others at 100mg+. It really depends on how your body processes and breaks down CBD.
Remember Everyone’s body is unique = Everyone’s ‘right dose’ is different, so start low and slow when you first begin using CBD, if you don’t see the results you expect then increase the dosage, and find your sweet spot.
With this being said, CBD is usually more effective when taken every day.
