FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of fatty compounds found in hemp but also produced by other plants and the human body. They are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant.
Hemp can produce more than 100 different phytocannabinoids naturally. Of the 100+ non-intoxicating phytocannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most widely known. Others include Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabichromene (CBC), Cannabinol (CBN) and, more.

Cannabinoids interact directly or indirectly with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is present in all living beings except insects.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a collection of cell receptors within a mammal’s body. Scientists discovered this system in the 1990s.
Phytocannabinoids work with the mammalian Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a vast receptor system that helps support homeostasis and overall good health. * This receptor system exists throughout the entire body, including the immune system, the central nervous system, and within many organs. The ECS accepts our body’s self-produced endocannabinoids as well as the phytocannabinoids found in hemp.
The ECS is designed to support cells and healthy immune system function, in reaction to fluctuations in our external environment. * A human’s ECS affects many regions of the body, including functions of the immune system, the central nervous system (including the brain), organs, connective tissue, and glands.
The ECS supports various biological tasks, including energy & balance, immune function, memory, metabolism, sleep, and the function of the autonomic nervous system. *
Supplementing with cannabinoids from plants (phytocannabinoids) can support our body’s endocannabinoids, and the ECS’s major receptors, CB1 and CB2. This helps to maintain proper balance. *

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?
Cannabidiol or CBD for short, is non- intoxicating phytocannabinoid. Phytocannabinoids are chemical compounds found in hemp plants. There are over 100 different phytocannabinoids that can be found in hemp. CBD works with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Your ECS helps with inflammation, appetite, energy, stress levels, sleep schedule, and other processes that are central to your well-being. More and more people are choosing to support their ECS with CBD every day.

What is Hemp Extract/Oil?
Hemp Extract/Oil is the essential oil produced from the leaves, buds, and stem of the hemp plant. Hemp extract/oil can be extracted by both mechanical and chemical means. In the extraction process, the extract retains a range of the phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found naturally in hemp. Oil that comes from only the seeds of hemp—hemp seed oil—does not include all of the same plant compounds and is primarily composed of dietary fats.

How is CBD different than THC?
CBD is markedly different from THC. CBD does not cause intoxicating or euphoric effects – the high feeling – like THC does. Although CBD is not intoxicating, it is psychoactive, meaning that it affects the brain. It is because CBD is psychoactive that it can have effects on things like mood. The manner in which CBD affects the body is also very different compared to THC. While THC directly stimulates the cannabinoid receptors in our Endocannabinoid System (ECS), CBD indirectly stimulates the body’s ECS by making the body produce endocannabinoids and helping those endocannabinoids circulate in the body longer.
Do products on Hemp CBD Wellness contain THC?
THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is also one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in the cannabis and hemp plant. Some of the products we carry do contain THC at the legal amount of 0.3% or less by dry weight. All products will include a lab test to indicate the amount of THC and for easy product identification labeled as “Full-Spectrum”. Products without THC will be labeled as “THC-free”.
How do I take CBD?
CBD can be taken into the body in multiple ways. Common routes of administration include sublingually (under the tongue with tinctures), orally (for example, capsules, gummies), topically (applied on the skin), inhalation (using a vape pen). All categories are listed under „Shop“-„Method“.
How much CBD should I take?
This is a very important consideration. Finding your therapeutic window or optimal amount varies from person to person. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to CBD dosing. Because human physiology is dynamic – it changes constantly over time – one particular amount might affect you one way, one day, and another way on a different day, depending on circumstances.

Does CBD interact with other medications?
Research to date shows that CBD is generally safe and has few, if any, minor side effects. But CBD does have the potential to interact with some medications, including the anticoagulant warfarin, the seizure medications valproic acid and clobazam. Similar to grapefruit, CBD inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is involved in metabolizing many drugs. By inhibiting cytochrome P450, CBD can either reduce or increase the effects of other drugs. Please consult your physician if you have a health condition and/or are taking medications before taking CBD.
Can I take CBD when pregnant or breastfeeding?
We acknowledge the many stories from women sharing their experiences using CBD to help curb nausea and insomnia… We strongly recommend consulting with your physician before considering CBD while pregnant and/or breastfeeding.
What is your vetting process for products?
We have a meticulous and rigorous vetting process. We require a Certificate of Analysis for each product from the brand. Even products that are packaged as “Full-Spectrum” or “THC-free” may be mislabeled and lack information on potency. With these third-party lab results, we also confirm that the lab itself is GMP and ISO certified, which are formal regulations put in place by the US Food and Drug Administration to establish a minimum level of quality in production of products and the maintenance of manufacturing processes.
